The RSPO Impact Report 2026 assesses the reach, performance, and impacts of RSPO certification across the global palm oil sector, examining how sustainable palm oil certification contributes to environmental protection, climate mitigation, protecting labour, human rights, communities, and supporting smallholders. It draws on certification data, member reporting, audit information, monitoring systems, and case studies with certified producers and the consumers of these products.
Findings indicate that RSPO certification continued to expand globally, reaching over 5.2 million hectares of certified production area, 567 certified mills, and 7,529 certified supply chain facilities, while certified sustainable palm oil accounted for approximately 20% of global palm oil supply. The report highlights measurable environmental and social outcomes, including conservation of more than 551,000 hectares of protected areas, avoidance of an estimated 2.98 million tCO₂e of annual emissions, support for over 661,000 workers in certified operations, and increasing participation of independent smallholders. The report concludes that further progress depends on expanding demand for certified sustainable palm oil, strengthening smallholder inclusion, improving market uptake, and scaling collaborative, risk-based, and jurisdictional approaches to increase environmental and social impacts across global palm oil supply chains.
