Summary
This case study examines the underlying drives shaping working conditions in Malaysia’s electronics supply chain, showing how forced labour arises from structural pressures embedded in business models and recruitment systems. Part of the Forced Labour Series: Are We Fighting Forced Labour or Just Managing It?, the study shows how forced labour in electronics is structurally produced, not incidental, and why addressing root causes is essential for building resilient and rights-respecting supply chains. It provides insight into what prevention looks like in practice and how shared responsibility across brands, suppliers, and regulators can transform outcomes on the ground.
