This article explores the impact of Fairtrade on both commercial and small-scale cooperatives in South Africa, finding that Fairtrade certification of commerical farms can lead to wider community benefits, as well as farm workers benefiting from the abitlity to gain shares and benefit from the farm owners' knowledge and capital.
