Summary

The FAO has published case studies and lessons learned after the implementationof a project called “Building global capacity to increase transparency in the forest sector (CBIT-Forest)”. The Paris Agreement (2015) established the enhanced transparency framework (ETF) for tracking and reporting the progress on goals, part of the agreement also stipulated that the institutional and technical capacities of non-Annex I countries were supported. The selection of case studies and lessons learned draws on information from FAO employees involved in the implementation of this capacity building project. They find that the project helped support developing countries to gather, analyse and share learning from forest-related data.
