摘要
This article examines the emergence and effectiveness of the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) using both a narrow, problem-solving definition of effectiveness, and a broader definition that takes into account indirect social, economic, and environmental effects. The paper concludes that the problem of declining fish stocks are unlikely to be solved solely by certification, but that more research is needed on public-private efforts to tackle overfishing and the resultant environmental damage.
