摘要

This report assessed the training needs of palm oil producers in three different regions in Indonesia. Qualitative and quantitative methods were used. Data was obtained from different research and policy papers or data collected by NGOs or government agencies. A survey was conducted with a random sample of farmers, which represented 20% of the targeted farmers. The report showed that the respondents in South Tapanuli suggested that GAP techniques was their most pressing training topic. Smallholders in Pelalawan on the other hand said land clearing method was the most important topic. In Sintang the priority was put on farmer institutions. The report concludes that GAP and farmer financial literacy are the most important factors in order to help farmers improve their productivity and livelihoods.
