摘要

This paper examines the context of eco-labelling in Japan, and the potential roles that the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) and the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) could play in decision making. The researchers use a mixed-methods survey approach, gathering data from fishery and eco-labelling policy stakeholders through two quantitative surveys, as well as unstructured interviews. The findings show that the development of private sector relationships is helping the influence of MSC and WWF grow, despite neither of them yet being important stakeholders in eco-labelling policy decisions in Japan.
