摘要
Jurisdictional approaches (JAs) have emerged as a promising governance model for promoting sustainable forest and land management in agro-commodity landscapes. Through a global, cross-commodity review of academic literature and policy publications, the article finds that an inductive analysis helped identify key research questions and critically evaluate existing work on JAs. The authors’ multidisciplinary approach, involving experts from fields such as transnational governance and forest policy, highlights the varied perspectives on the topic. The article finds that much of the current research is authored or co-authored by practitioners, which leads to a focus on improving JA effectiveness, often without critically examining their limitations. The authors suggest future research should address these gaps by exploring the deeper challenges and realistic outcomes of JAs.
